(WHNT) – The WHNT Alabama SAF-T-Net app is one of our most popular free apps, and we released an update recently.  The app is available for iPhone and Android.

You still get the same great features as before, including current conditions, a slider bar to show you the conditions over the next several hours and ability to plug in different cities.

You can also get a 7-day forecast for the different locations you input.

The updated app offers ARMOR Radar in addition to the National Radar, and temperature and satellite overlays.  The interactive map still allows you to zoom in and pan out as you watch storms moving through your city and neighborhood.

You can still customize your WHNT Alabama SAF-T-Net alerts for multiple locations, including home, work and school.  And, choose the alerts you wish to receive — you can keep it simple with just a Tornado Warning, or allow multiple alerts, including Dangerous Storm, Twisting Storm, etc.

A brand new feature with this update — the ability to submit content — specifically, pictures of severe weather or storm damage.  You can take a photo or send one from your camera roll.  Those photos are matched with your phone’s location through GPS, and the app sends it to local emergency management officials who are tracking a storm’s path.

We can also access the photos to use them on WHNT News 19 and WHNT.com.

Download the free app today.  Just type ‘whnt’ in your app store on iPhone or in Google Play for Android devices. We’ve also included direct links.
