There’s a chance to learn with every storm that rolls through the Tennessee Valley.  During a tornado warning earlier this month, a Valley Head family found a community storm shelter was locked.

WHNT News 19 Took Action to find out how this could happen. Meteorologist Jake Reed uncovered some information that could make you rethink your severe weather safety plan.

Our team is exploring lessons learned from other storms as well.  For example, one lightning strike to the National Weather Service radar before a deadly tornado in 1995 taught officials the importance of having a local office handling warnings.
